ಡಿ.ವಿ. ಗುಂಡಪ್ಪ
D.V. Gundapa (1889-1975, pen name DVG or deeveejee) was one of the most prominent writers, and poets of modern Kannada. His father's name was Devarahalli Venkataramanayya. Gundappa didn't have much formal education, but due to self-study and dedication, attained scholarship in English, Kannada, and Sanskrit languages. He translated "Eshopanishad" to Kannada.
DVG was a multi-talented writer. He started Kannada newspapers "Bharat" and "Karnataka". He founded the Gokhale Institute and promoted fine arts of India. He served as the president of the 18th Kannada Literary Conference held in Madikeri.

"Manku Thimmana Kagga", is a collection of songs imbibing folk wisdom and philosophy of India,
"Umarana Osage" -- a translation of poems of Omar Khayyam,
"Soundarya mattu Sahitya" -- a critical work on literary aesthetics.
